विस्मयः सर्वभूतानां प्रहर्षश् चाभवत् तदा ॥
आर्ष्यशृङ्गिं ततो भीमो नवभिर् निशितैः शरैः ॥
विव्याध प्रहसन् राजन् राक्षसेन्द्रम् अमर्षणम् ॥

译文

Alambusa, in the battle, enraged, challenged the mighty Bhimasena to combat, as the son of Ravana [Indrajit] once challenged Lakshmana. Seeing those two—man and rakshasa—locked in battle, all beings were seized then with amazement and joy. Then Bhima, smiling, O king, pierced the lord of rakshasas, the unyielding son of Rishyashringa, with nine sharp arrows.

注释

The battle of a man against a rakshasa is measured once more against the Ramayana—"lakṣmaṇaṃ rāvaṇir yathā", as Indrajit against Lakshmana: the perennial contest of dharma and demonic power. It is telling that in all beings it awakens not only "vismaya", amazement, but "praharṣa", joy: the soul rejoices at the sight of valor rising against evil. The verse teaches that the struggle of the righteous against the demonic resounds with rejoicing throughout creation, for every being, at its depth, stands on the side of dharma and secretly wishes it victory.
