अवाकिरन् द्रोणरथं शरा रुधिरभोजनाः ॥
लाघवाद् द्विजमुख्यस्य सात्वतस्य च मारिष ॥
विशेषं नाध्यगच्छाम समावास्तां नरर्षभौ ॥

Likewise, arrows let loose by Yuyudhana by the hundreds and thousands, blood-drinking, showered Drona's chariot. In the swiftness of the foremost of the twice-born and of Satvata, O venerable one, we found no difference: equal were those bulls among men.

"Viśeṣaṃ na adhyagacchāma, samau āstām" — one could not tell which of the two was the more skilled: teacher and pupil are equal. It is telling that the master has raised the pupil to his own measure. The verse teaches that the summit of teaching lies in this — that the pupil comes to equal the teacher: where the one who transmits knowledge does not withhold it, there the disciple rises to equality with the master, and the teacher's glory is multiplied by the glory of the pupil.
