[With] the bearing of a bull's shoulders, valiant, bull-eyed, bull among men, he shone in the midst of your [men] as a bull among cows; [resembling] a bull elephant in rut, [with] the gait of an elephant in rut, like [an elephant] with streaming temples, standing [in] the midst of the herd.

Amid the army, Satyaki is "gavāṃ madhye yathā vṛṣaḥ," like a bull among cows, like an elephant in rut among the herd: one surpasses all, as a leader among the rest. It is telling that his greatness announces itself by bearing alone. The verse teaches that true excellence makes itself manifest: where a genuine leader stands, he is among the many as a leader among a herd — distinguished not by title but by his very stature from the rest.
