द्रोणस् तु सत्वरो राजन् क्षिप्तो भीमेन संयुगे ॥
रथम् अन्यं समास्थाय व्यूहद्वारम् उपाययौ ॥
तस्मिन् क्षणे तस्य यन्ता तूर्णम् अश्वान् अचोदयत् ॥
भीमसेनस्य कौरव्य तद् अद्भुतम् इवाभवत् ॥
ततः स्वरथम् आस्थाय भीमसेनो महाबलः ॥
अभ्यवर्तत वेगेन तव पुत्रस्य वाहिनीम् ॥
स मृद्नन् क्षत्रियान् आजौ वातो वृक्षान् इवोद्धतः ॥
अगच्छद् दारयन् सेनां सिन्धुवेगो नगान् इव ॥
droṇas tu satvaro rājan kṣipto bhīmena saṃyuge ||
ratham anyaṃ samāsthāya vyūhadvāram upāyayau ||
tasmin kṣaṇe tasya yantā tūrṇam aśvān acodayat ||
bhīmasenasya kauravya tad adbhutam ivābhavat ||
tataḥ svaratham āsthāya bhīmaseno mahābalaḥ ||
abhyavartata vegena tava putrasya vāhinīm ||
sa mṛdnan kṣatriyān ājau vāto vṛkṣān ivoddhataḥ ||
agacchad dārayan senāṃ sindhuvego nagān iva ||
He, being struck in battle, seized Drona's chariot by its pole with his hand, O venerable one, and hurled it away, the mighty one. And Drona, hastening, O king, thrown down by Bhima in battle, mounted another chariot and came up to the gate of the array. He, trampling kshatriyas in battle like a raging wind trampling trees, went on, tearing through the host, like a river's current through mountains.

Bhima seizes Drona's chariot with his hand and hurls it away: a bodily might that no arrows can overcome. He goes on "vāto vṛkṣān iva," as the wind fells trees, "sindhuvego nagān iva," as a torrent breaks through mountains. It is telling that his strength is likened to the elements themselves. The verse teaches that there is a might before which the art of arms is powerless: raw heroic strength, shielded by truth, passes like storm and flood, crushing all in its way.
