अथान्यद् धनुर् आदाय सात्यकिर् वेगवत्तरम् ॥
पञ्चभिः सायकैस् तूर्णं सोमदत्तम् अविध्यत ॥
ततो ऽपरेण भल्लेन ध्वजं चिच्छेद काञ्चनम् ॥
बाह्लीकस्य रणे राजन् सात्यकिः प्रहसन्न् इव ॥
सोमदत्तस् त्व् असंभ्रान्तो दृष्ट्वा केतुं निपातितम् ॥
शैनेयं पञ्चविंशत्या सायकानां समाचिनोत् ॥
सात्वतो ऽपि रणे क्रुद्धः सोमदत्तस्य धन्विनः ॥
धनुश् चिच्छेद समरे क्षुरप्रेण शितेन ह ॥
athānyad dhanur ādāya sātyakir vegavattaram ||
pañcabhiḥ sāyakais tūrṇaṃ somadattam avidhyata ||
tato 'pareṇa bhallena dhvajaṃ ciccheda kāñcanam ||
bāhlīkasya raṇe rājan sātyakiḥ prahasann iva ||
somadattas tv asaṃbhrānto dṛṣṭvā ketuṃ nipātitam ||
śaineyaṃ pañcaviṃśatyā sāyakānāṃ samācinot ||
sātvato 'pi raṇe kruddhaḥ somadattasya dhanvinaḥ ||
dhanuś ciccheda samare kṣurapreṇa śitena ha ||
Then, taking up another, mightier bow, Satyaki swiftly pierced Somadatta with five arrows. Then, with another broad-headed arrow, as if laughing, he cut down the golden banner of the scion of Bahlika in battle, O king. But Somadatta, unshaken, seeing his standard fallen, showered Shaineya with twenty-five arrows. And Satvata, enraged in the fight, severed the bow of the archer Somadatta with a sharp razor-headed arrow.
