अब्रवीत् पार्थिवश्रेष्ठम् ऋषिर् द्वैपायनस् तदा ॥
इह मां संप्रतीक्षध्वम् आगमिष्याम्य् अहं पुनः ॥
देशकालौ विदित्वैव वेत्स्यध्वं परमां मुदम् ॥
स तैः प्राञ्जलिभिः सर्वैस् तथेत्य् उक्तो नराधिप ॥
जगाम भगवान् व्यासो यथाकामम् ऋषिः प्रभुः ॥

abravīt pārthivaśreṣṭham ṛṣir dvaipāyanas tadā ||
iha māṃ saṃpratīkṣadhvam āgamiṣyāmy ahaṃ punaḥ ||

sa taiḥ prāñjalibhiḥ sarvais tathety ukto narādhipa ||
jagāma bhagavān vyāso yathākāmam ṛṣiḥ prabhuḥ ||
'Having spoken thus and settled them in the dwelling of a brahmin, the sage Dvaipayana said then to the foremost of kings: "Wait for me here; I will come again; having learned the place and time, you will know the highest joy." When all of them, with joined palms, said, "So be it," O ruler of men, the blessed Vyasa, the lordly sage, departed as he wished.'

Here the sage leaves his disciples a testament of waiting and trust. His promise is telling: 'having learned the place and time, you will know the highest joy' — a word that discloses the future in part, without unveiling it before its time; everything has its season in the design of providence. Telling too is the obedience of the Pandavas: they answer 'so be it' and remain waiting, entrusting themselves to the sage's word. Herein is the dharma of discipleship: to heed the teacher, to obey, and to wait patiently for the appointed hour, for good comes in its own time. Thus the text reveals that faith in the guru's word and readiness to wait are the path to the promised joy; and this waiting under the brahmin's roof will become the threshold of new destinies.
