यः पुरा बोध्यते सुप्तः सूमान्दिभिः
बोयन्त्य् द्य तं नूनं श्वादा विकृतैः स्वरैः
त्रच्छायामुचितं स्य तद् नं शुभम्
नूनम् द्य जोध्वस्तं णे रेणुः रिष्यति

yaḥ pu bodhyate suptaḥ tagadhabandibhiḥ ||
bodhayanty adya taṃ naṃ śvāpa vikṛtaiḥ svaraiḥ ||
chatracchāsamucitaṃ tasya tad vadanaṃ śubham ||
nam adya rajodhvastaṃ raṇe reṇuḥ kariṣyati ||

Translation

"Whom of old, asleep, sutas, magadhas, and bards would waken — him now, surely, beasts of prey waken with wild cries. That radiant face of his, accustomed to the shade of the royal canopy — now, surely, the dust of battle will cover it."
