मिष्यति वः क्षिप्रं लं पास्य र्मणः
र्मो हि कृतस् तीव्रः थं स्याद् लश् चिरम्
ति तान् प्रति भाषन् वै वैश्यापुत्रो हातिः
पायाच् स्त्रम् त्सृज्य कोदुःन्वितः

āgamiṣyati vaḥ kṣipraṃ phalaṃ pasya karmaṇaḥ ||
adharmo hi kṛtas tīvraḥ kathaṃ syād aphalaś ciram ||
iti n prati bhāṣan vai vaiśyāputro mamatiḥ ||
ac chastram utsṛjya kopaduḥkhasamanvitaḥ ||

Translation

"'The fruit of an evil deed will soon overtake you: a fierce unrighteousness has been wrought — how could it remain fruitless for long?' Thus answering them, the son of the vaishya woman, most wise, casting away his weapon, went away, seized by wrath and sorrow."
