Here a son joyfully brings his father good news. It is significant that Dhrishtadyumna is ‘greatly delighted’: he himself rejoices in the outcome his father had hoped for. Good news gladdens the messenger as well. Thus the scripture shows the son's heart in harmony with his father's hope; and his account will dispel Drupada's anxiety.
