आगम्य खाण्डवप्रस्थम् उदक्रोशत पाण्डवान् ॥

Here the wronged man seeks justice from the king. It is telling that the plundered brahmin goes straight to the Pandavas: a subject has the right to demand protection from the sovereign. Guarding the weak and the brahmins is the foremost duty of power. Thus scripture shows trust in the king's justice; and the brahmin's cry lays upon the Pandavas their duty as protectors.
