पूजयित्वा कुरु-श्रेष्ठःpūjayitvā kuru-śreṣṭhaḥhaving honored, the best of the Kurus,
दैवतानि निवेश्य चdaivatāni niveśya caand having installed [in the hall] the deities;
तत्र मल्लाः नटाः झल्लाःtatra mallāḥ naṭāḥ jhallāḥthere wrestlers, actors, boxers,
सूताः वैतालिकाः तथाsūtāḥ vaitālikāḥ tathābards and panegyrists
उपतस्थुः महात्मानम्upatasthuḥ mahātmānamattended the great-souled one

Here the joy of the house is crowned above all by the installation of the deities. It is significant that mirth and celebration are not severed from the sacred: the righteous surrounds his joy with worship of God, and so it is pure. The comparison to Shakra points to the fullness of the bliss granted by dharma. So the scripture shows a consecrated celebration; and further on the sages gather in the hall.
