Here, among the rest, Shishupala is named — the very one whose enmity will soon erupt in this same hall. It is significant that the scripture sets him unperturbed among the ranks of those paying homage: before its time, even an enemy dwells within the assembly of the righteous. So the scripture quietly foreshadows the clash to come; and further on the heroes of the Vrishni line appear.
