While those armies, hungry for victory, were thus locked in battle, Arjuna and Vasudeva pressed on toward the lord of Sindhu. With sharp arrows the son of Kunti carved out there a path as wide as a chariot-road, the way by which Janardana drove. Wherever the chariot of the great-souled Pandava went, there your armies were split apart, O lord of the people.

Arjuna 'cakāra panthānam,' carves out a path with his arrows wherever Krishna drives. The image runs deep: the Lord's chariot sets the direction, and the warrior clears the way. It is significant that the armies 'dīryante,' are split apart wherever the chariot led by God passes. The verse teaches that where the Lord drives, the path clears itself: the devotee's task is only to clear the way before God's will; and every obstacle gives way wherever the chariot moves, guided by Krishna.
