ताव् अतीत्य रथानीकं विमुक्तौ पुरुषर्षभौ ॥
ददृशाते यथा राहोर् आस्यान् मुक्तौ प्रभाकरौ ॥
मत्स्याव् इव महाजालं विदार्य विगतज्वरौ ॥
तथा कृष्णाव् अदृश्येतां सेनाजालं विदार्य तत् ॥
विमुक्तौ शस्त्रसंबाधाद् द्रोणानीकात् सुदुर्भिदात् ॥
अदृश्येतां महात्मानौ कालसूर्याव् इवोदितौ ॥
tāv atītya rathānīkaṃ vimuktau puruṣarṣabhau ||
dadṛśāte yathā rāhor āsyān muktau prabhākarau ||
matsyāv iva mahājālaṃ vidārya vigatajvarau ||
tathā kṛṣṇāv adṛśyetāṃ senājālaṃ vidārya tat ||
vimuktau śastrasaṃbādhād droṇānīkāt sudurbhidāt ||
adṛśyetāṃ mahātmānau kālasūryāv ivoditau ||
The two of them, having passed through the ranks of chariots, freed, [two] bulls among men, appeared as if two luminaries had escaped from the mouth of Rahu. Like two fish tearing through a great net, free from anxiety, so did Krishna [and Arjuna] appear, having torn through that net of the army. Freed from the press of weapons, from the hard-to-breach formation of Drona, they appeared, great of soul, like two suns of Time [pralaya] having risen.

A cascade of images of release: luminaries from the mouth of Rahu, fish from a net, the rising of two suns of the dissolution. It is telling that the breakthrough is described as light escaping the grip of darkness. The verse teaches that devotees led by the Lord always break free from any confinement: as the sun escapes the mouth of an eclipse, as a fish escapes a net, so one shielded by God breaks free from constriction; and however dense the "formation" of troubles, light does not remain captive — it bursts forth, like a rising sun.
