चेद् विधेर् यं कालः प्राप्तः स्याद् द्य श्चिमः
चैवास्य त्रोश् तन् माक्ष्व पृच्छतः
विस्मयो मे हान् पार्थ दृष्ट्वा रान् मान्
व्यर्थान् नितः संख्ये दुर्योथं प्रति
ज्रानिमा घोराः कायाभेदिनः
राः कुर्वन्ति ते नार्थं पार्थ काद्य विम्बना

na ced vidher ayaṃ laḥ prāptaḥ syād adya paścimaḥ ||
tava caisya śatroś ca tan macakṣva pṛcchataḥ ||
vismayo me man pārtha tava dṛṣṭvā śan imān ||
vyarthān nipatataḥ saṃkhye duryodhanarathaṃ prati ||
vajrāśanisa ghorāḥ paravabhedinaḥ ||
śarāḥ kurvanti te rthaṃ rtha dya viḍamba ||

व्यर्थान् निपततः संख्येvyarthān nipatataḥ saṃkhyefalling in vain in the battle; falling fruitlessly in the fray
दुर्योधनरथम् प्रतिduryodhanaratham pratiagainst Duryodhana's chariot; toward Duryodhana's chariot
वज्राशनिसमाः घोराःvajrāśanisamāḥ ghorāḥlike thunderbolt and lightning, terrible; resembling the stroke of the thunderbolt, dreadful
परकायावभेदिनःparakāyāvabhedinaḥpiercing enemy bodies; cleaving the bodies of foes
शराः कुर्वन्ति ते न अर्थम्śarāḥ kurvanti te na arthamyour arrows do not accomplish their purpose; your arrows do not do their work
पार्थ का अद्य विडम्बनाpārtha kā adya viḍambanāPartha, what mockery is this today; Partha, what jest is this now
Traducción

"If this is not the hour of fate, then today the last hour would have come — yours and this enemy's; tell me that, since I ask. Great is my astonishment, Partha, seeing these arrows of yours falling in vain in battle at Duryodhana's chariot. Terrible, like the stroke of the thunderbolt, cleaving the bodies of foes — your arrows do not reach their mark; Partha, what mockery is this today?"
