अचिन्तयन् वै स शरान् नात्यर्थं संभ्रमाद् बली ॥
धनुर् अन्यत् समादाय तिष्ठ तिष्ठेत्य् उवाच ह ॥
एतावद् उक्त्वा शैनेयो जलसंधं महोरसि ॥
विव्याध षष्ट्या सुभृशं शराणां प्रहसन्न् इव ॥
क्षुरप्रेण च पीतेन मुष्टिदेशे महद् धनुः ॥
जलसंधस्य चिच्छेद विव्याध च त्रिभिः शरैः ॥
acintayan vai sa śarān nātyarthaṃ saṃbhramād balī ||
dhanur anyat samādāya tiṣṭha tiṣṭhety uvāca ha ||
etāvad uktvā śaineyo jalasaṃdhaṃ mahorasi ||
vivyādha ṣaṣṭyā subhṛśaṃ śarāṇāṃ prahasann iva ||
kṣurapreṇa ca pītena muṣṭideśe mahad dhanuḥ ||
jalasaṃdhasya ciccheda vivyādha ca tribhiḥ śaraiḥ ||
Heeding not the arrows, not at all from agitation, the powerful one, taking up another bow, said, "Stand, stand!" Having said this much, Shaineya pierced Jalasandha [in] the broad chest with sixty arrows, most forcefully, as if laughing; and with a yellow razor-arrow he cut the great bow of Jalasandha [at] the grip, and pierced [him] with three arrows.

Satyaki, "acintayan śarān… na saṃbhramāt," heeding not the arrows lodged in him, without a trace of agitation, takes up a new bow: pain does not distract the composed. It is telling that he does not count his wounds, absorbed in the task. The verse teaches that concentration on the goal dulls pain: one wholly given to duty is not diverted by his own wounds, and this absorption in the task is both his strength and his shield.
