निपेतुर् द्विदा भूमौ द्विशृङ्गा र्वताः
निकृत्तैर् स्तिस्तैश् विद्भिर् तस् तः
रा सुधा कीर्णा विर्पद्भिर् वोगैः
क्षिप्तैः काञ्चण्डैश् नृच्छत्रैः क्षितिर् भौ
द्यौर् वोदिन्द्रार्का ग्रहाकीर्णा युक्षये
प्रवृद्धध्वण्डूकां भेरीविस्तीर्णच्छपाम्
त्रहंसालीजुष्टां फेचामालिनीम्

praḍham añjogatibhir nācair abhiḍitāḥ ||
nipetur dvira bhūmau dviśṛṅgā iva parvatāḥ ||
nikṛttair hastihastaiś ca vicaladbhir itas tataḥ ||
raja vasudhā rṇā visarpadbhir ivoragaiḥ ||
kṣiptaiḥ ñcanadaṇḍaiś ca nṛpacchatraiḥ kṣitir babhau ||
dyaur ivoditacandrārkā grarṇā yugakṣaye ||
pravṛddhadhvajamaṇḍūkāṃ bhevistīrṇakacchapām ||
chatrahaṃvajuṣṭāṃ phenamaralinīm ||

[A river of blood:] with banner-frogs raised aloft, with kettledrum-turtles, peopled with parasols like flocks of geese, garlanded with foam like fly-whisks...
