Here the genealogy comes to its close — carried all the way to the listener himself, Janamejaya, and his son. Significant is where the ending converges: Krishna's bringing Parikshit to life. The line of Kuru had nearly been cut off — after the war only a stillborn child remained in Uttara's womb — but the Lord Himself, the Supreme Person Vasudeva, brings it to life, and the line continues. Here is the crown of it all: that the line, and with it dharma, was not cut off is a direct act of Krishna; He is not merely a participant in the drama but the giver of life, the guardian of the line. The very name Parikshit, born into the exhausted, stands as a monument to this miracle of grace. And, by providence, from Parikshit, saved by Krishna, comes Janamejaya, the listener to this epic at the snake sacrifice: thus the circle closes; the listener himself is the fruit of that grace, and the narrative returns to its own beginning. The closing promise of fruit — one who hears this line of Puru is freed from all sins — declares that even a genealogy is sacred and redemptive, for it is the story of a line preserved by God. Thus the genealogy is no dry list, but a confession of the providence that led to Krishna and, through the Parikshit He saved, to us who listen.
