तस्याथ कामधुग् धेनुर् वसिष्ठस्य महात्मनः ॥
उक्ता कामान् प्रयच्छेति सा कामान् दुदुहे ततः ॥
ग्राम्यारण्या ओषधीश् च दुदुहे पय एव च ॥
षड्रसं चामृतरसं रसायनम् अनुत्तमम् ॥
भोजनीयानि पेयानि भक्ष्याणि विविधानि च ॥
लेह्यान्य् अमृतकल्पानि चोष्याणि च तथार्जुन ॥
तैः कामैः सर्वसंपूर्णैः पूजितः स महीपतिः ॥
सामात्यः सबलश् चैव तुतोष स भृशं नृपः ॥
tasyātha kāmadhug dhenur vasiṣṭhasya mahātmanaḥ ||
uktā kāmān prayaccheti sā kāmān duduhe tataḥ ||
grāmyāraṇyā oṣadhīś ca duduhe paya eva ca ||
ṣaḍrasaṃ cāmṛtarasaṃ rasāyanam anuttamam ||
bhojanīyāni peyāni bhakṣyāṇi vividhāni ca ||
lehyāny amṛtakalpāni coṣyāṇi ca tathārjuna ||
taiḥ kāmaiḥ sarvasaṃpūrṇaiḥ pūjitaḥ sa mahīpatiḥ ||
sāmātyaḥ sabalaś caiva tutoṣa sa bhṛśaṃ nṛpaḥ ||
"The wish-granting milch cow of the great-souled Vasishtha, at the word 'give what is desired,' then yielded everything: domestic and wild herbs, and milk, and six-flavored nectar-juice, unsurpassed rasayana, every kind of food, drink, various delicacies like amrita. And honored with those wholly complete blessings, that lord of the earth, together with his ministers and army, rejoiced greatly."

Here the hidden wealth of the hermit is revealed. It is significant that an ascetic who seems poor feeds an entire army with foods like amrita: true abundance belongs to the saint, for behind him stands the power of tapas, which gives everything. This shows that spiritual wealth surpasses royal wealth: Vasishtha has the cow of desires, granting all. Thus the scripture shows that genuine prosperity lies not in treasure but in grace -- and the king, lord of the earth, marvels at the wealth of the poor sage.
