राजानो राजपुत्राश् च यज्वानो भूरिदक्षिणाः ॥
स्वाध्यायवन्तः शुचयो महात्मानो यतव्रताः ॥
तरुणा दर्शनीयाश् च नानादेशसमागताः ॥
महारथाः कृतास्त्राश् च समुपैष्यन्ति भूमिपाः ॥

अनुवाद
"Kings and princes, sacrificers with abundant gifts, students of the Veda, pure, great-souled, faithful to their vows, young and comely, gathered from many countries, great charioteers, skilled in arms -- these lords of the earth will come there."

Here a brilliant gathering of suitors reveals itself. It is telling that the worthiest come streaming toward the maiden -- valiant kings, learned men, men of vows: the hand of a divine bride draws the flower of the earth. Here the high moves toward the high: the destined maiden gathers the chosen around her. So the scripture shows the grandeur of the coming contest; and amid this splendor the humble brahmacharin brothers will appear, to whom the prize is destined.
