बृहन्तो मणिमांश् चैव दण्डधारश् च वीर्यवान् ॥
सहदेवो जयत्सेनो मेघसंधिश् च मागधः ॥
विराटः सह पुत्राभ्यां शङ्खेनैवोत्तरेण च ॥
वार्धक्षेमिः सुवर्चाश् च सेनाबिन्दुश् च पार्थिवः ॥
अभिभूः सह पुत्रेण सुदाम्ना च सुवर्चसा ॥
सुमित्रः सुकुमारश् च वृकः सत्यधृतिस् तथा ॥
bṛhanto maṇimāṃś caiva daṇḍadhāraś ca vīryavān ||
sahadevo jayatseno meghasaṃdhiś ca māgadhaḥ ||
virāṭaḥ saha putrābhyāṃ śaṅkhenaivottareṇa ca ||
vārdhakṣemiḥ suvarcāś ca senābinduś ca pārthivaḥ ||
abhibhūḥ saha putreṇa sudāmnā ca suvarcasā ||
sumitraḥ sukumāraś ca vṛkaḥ satyadhṛtis tathā ||
"Brihanta and Manimat, and the valiant Dandadhara, Sahadeva, Jayatsena, and Meghasandhi of Magadha, Virata with his two sons -- Shankha and Uttara, Vardhakshemi and Suvarchas, and king Senabindu, Abhibhu with his son Sudaman, and Suvarchas, Sumitra and Sukumara, Vrika, and also Satyadhriti --"

Here the list widens with rulers of many lands. The abundance of names is telling: kings from Magadha to Matsya [Virata] have flocked to the maiden -- the whole earth has sent its finest. Destined beauty draws the whole world: where the prize is great, the contest is great as well. Thus scripture shows the universality of the gathering; and amid the multitude of names one reads the magnitude of the hour to come.
