भगीरथो बृहत्क्षत्रः सैन्धवश् च जयद्रथः ॥
बृहद्रथो बाह्लिकश् च श्रुतायुश् च महारथः ॥
उलूकः कैतवो राजा चित्राङ्गदशुभाङ्गदौ ॥
वत्सराजश् च धृतिमान् कोसलाधिपतिस् तथा ॥

Here the list of kings draws to its close. It is telling that among the names is Jayadratha, destined for an ill role in the war to come: the assembly of suitors holds both future enemies and future allies alike. Here, on one field, meet those whose paths will diverge in the great battle. Thus scripture shows the fullness of the gathered kshatriya world; and in this very roll of names the seed of destinies to come already lies hidden.
