मद्रराजस् तथा शल्यः सहपुत्रो महारथः ॥
रुक्माङ्गदेन वीरेण तथा रुक्मरथेन च ॥
कौरव्यः सोमदत्तश् च पुत्राश् चास्य महारथाः ॥
समवेतास् त्रयः शूरा भूरिर् भूरिश्रवाः शलः ॥
सुदक्षिणश् च काम्बोजो दृढधन्वा च कौरवः ॥
बृहद्बलः सुषेणश् च शिबिर् औशीनरस् तथा ॥

"The king of Madra, Shalya, the great chariot-warrior, with his son, with the hero Rukmangada and with Rukmaratha, Kauravya Somadatta and his sons, great chariot-warriors -- the three heroes have gathered: Bhuri, Bhurishravas, Shala, Sudakshina of Kamboja and Dridhadhanva the Kauravya, Brihadbala and Sushena, and Shibi, son of Ushinara --"

Here Shibi, son of Ushinara, renowned for his self-sacrifice, is also named. It is telling that the assembly holds men celebrated for virtue, not for strength alone: their names are remembered for deeds of mercy. A good name outlives the ages: kings honored for righteousness are singled out for mention. Thus scripture shows that not only the mighty but the good have gathered here; and amid the gleam of weapons shines the gleam of virtue.
