शताङ्गानि च तूर्याणि वादकाश् चाप्य् अवादयन् ॥
सूतमागधसंघाश् च अस्तुवंस् तत्र सुस्वनाः ॥
तं दृष्ट्वा द्रुपदः प्रीतो बभूवारिनिषूदनः ॥
सहसैन्यश् च पार्थस्य साहाय्यार्थम् इयेष सः ॥

अनुवाद
"The musicians struck up hundreds of kinds of music, and throngs of sweet-voiced sutas and magadhas praised him there. Seeing him, Drupada, slayer of foes, rejoiced, and desired, with his army, to come to Partha's aid."

Here a father's joy meets the desired victor. It is significant that Drupada is at once ready to back with his army a man who looks like an unknown brahmin: his heart senses that what he longed for has come to pass — the one to whom he meant to give his daughter has appeared. Here a secret wish is fulfilled by an unexpected path: the king sought Arjuna, and Arjuna, unrecognized, has won. Thus the scripture shows Drupada's joy; and his readiness to help the victor foretells that the secret will soon be revealed.
