Alliance with the righteous grants fearlessness. It is significant that Drupada, having become kin to the Pandavas, fears not even the gods: closeness to the bearers of dharma -- and through them, to the Lord whose instruments they are -- dissolves all fear. Taking refuge in the good and in the Lord makes one fearless: whom should I fear, whose refuge is He? Thus the scripture shows the fruit of a good alliance, and Drupada gains peace and strength.
