दुर्योधनप्रभृतयः पुत्रा राजन् यथा तव ॥
तथैव पाण्डवेयास् ते पुत्रा राजन् न संशयः ॥
तेषु चेद् अहितं किं चिन् मन्त्रयेयुर् अबुद्धितः ॥
मन्त्रिणस् ते न ते श्रेयः प्रपश्यन्ति विशेषतः ॥

अनुवाद
"As Duryodhana and the rest are your sons, O king, so too, without doubt, are the Pandavas your sons; and if anyone, out of folly, should counsel something harmful to them, such counselors do not truly see your good."

Here Vidura recalls a father's equal regard for all his sons. It is telling that the Pandavas are called the king's sons on par with his own: harm to orphaned nephews is harm to the family itself. It becomes clear that one who counsels ruin against kin is no well-wisher but a destroyer of the house. Thus the text reveals the unity of the family; and whoever divides children into 'one's own' and 'others' is an enemy of the common good.
