सभा तु सा महाराज शातकुम्भमयद्रुमा ॥
दश किष्कुसहस्राणि समन्ताद् आयताभवत् ॥
यथा वह्नेर् यथार्कस्य सोमस्य च यथैव सा ॥
भ्राजमाना तथा दिव्या बभार परमं वपुः ॥
प्रतिघ्नतीव प्रभया प्रभाम् अर्कस्य भास्वराम् ॥
प्रबभौ ज्वलमानेव दिव्या दिव्येन वर्चसा ॥
sabhā tu sā mahārāja śātakumbhamayadrumā ||
daśa kiṣkusahasrāṇi samantād āyatābhavat ||
yathā vahner yathārkasya somasya ca yathaiva sā ||
bhrājamānā tathā divyā babhāra paramaṃ vapuḥ ||
pratighnatīva prabhayā prabhām arkasya bhāsvarām ||
prababhau jvalamāneva divyā divyena varcasā ||
"That hall, O great king, with trees of gold, stretched ten thousand kishkus in every direction; shining like fire, like the sun and the moon, divine, it bore a supreme form; as if outshining the blazing brilliance of the sun with its own splendor, it shone as though ablaze, divine with a divine luster."

Here the palace appears as something beyond the world, luminous like the heavenly bodies themselves. It is telling that the dwelling of the righteous king is likened to fire, sun, and moon: where dharma is established, even the visible shines with heavenly light. It is not luxury that is praised here, but a dignity in which beauty and holiness meet. Thus scripture shows the splendor of the Mayasabha; and further, its perfection follows.
