देवनागरी
तव वाक्यानि दिव्यानि तत्र तेषां च माधव ॥
श्रोतुम् इच्छाम गोविन्द सत्यानि च शुभानि च ॥
आपृष्टो ऽसि महाबाहो पुनर् द्रक्ष्यामहे वयम् ॥
याह्य् अविघ्नेन वै वीर द्रक्ष्यामस् त्वां सभागतम् ॥

This fragment (5.81.71-72) develops the central theme of the Udyoga-parva: the effort for peace unfolds even as war draws inevitably near. Here dharma is revealed through speech, through the choice of an envoy, through faithfulness to one's word, and through the responsibility kings bear for the consequences of their decisions.
