युधिष्ठिर उवाच
सुखेन रजनी व्युष्टा कच्चित् ते मधुसूदन ॥
कच्चिज् ज्ञानानि सर्वाणि प्रसन्नानि तवाच्युत ॥
संजय उवाच
वासुदेवो ऽपि तद् युक्तं पर्यपृच्छद् युधिष्ठिरम् ॥
ततः क्षत्ता प्रकृतयो न्यवेदयद् उपस्थिताः ॥

sukhena rajanī vyuṣṭā kaccit te madhusūdana ||
kaccij jñānāni sarvāṇi prasannāni tavācyuta ||

vāsudevo 'pi tad yuktaṃ paryapṛcchad yudhiṣṭhiram ||
tataḥ kṣattā prakṛtayo nyavedayad upasthitāḥ ||

प्रसन्नानि तव अच्युतprasannāni tava acyutaserene for you, O Achyuta; serene for you, O Achyuta
वासुदेवः अपि तत् युक्तम्vāsudevaḥ api tat yuktamVasudeva also that fitting; Vasudeva also that proper thing
पर्यपृच्छत् युधिष्ठिरम्paryapṛcchat yudhiṣṭhiramasked Yudhishthira in return; asked Yudhishthira
ततः क्षत्ता प्रकृतयःtataḥ kṣattā prakṛtayaḥthen the gatekeeper of the courtiers; then the gatekeeper -- of the nobles
न्यवेदयत् उपस्थिताःnyavedayat upasthitāḥannounced those who had arrived; reported those who had come
अनुवाद

"Has the night passed happily for you, O Madhusudana? Are all your faculties clear and serene, O Achyuta?" Vasudeva, too, asked Yudhishthira that same fitting question in return. Then the gatekeeper announced the arrival of the assembled nobles.
