देवनागरी
त्वं हि राज्यविनाशं च द्विषद्भिश् च निराक्रियाम् ॥
क्लेशांश् च विविधान् कृष्ण सर्वांस् तान् अपि वेत्थ नः ॥
त्वयि सर्वेश सर्वेषाम् अस्माकं भक्तवत्सल ॥
सुखम् आयत्तम् अत्यर्थं यात्रा च मधुसूदन ॥

अनुवाद
"For you know both the ruin of our kingdom and the humiliation from our enemies, and the manifold torments, O Krishna -- all that is ours you know. In you, O lord of all, lover of your devotees, rests utterly the good fortune of all of us, and our very journey, O Madhusudana."

The name "bhaktavatsala", "lover of devotees", is the heart of Vaishnava theology: the Lord is tender toward those who have surrendered to Him. The king hides neither wound nor humiliation -- "sarvān tān api vettha naḥ", "you know all that is ours": before God there is no need to conceal anything. And the conclusion follows: "tvayi... sukham āyattam... yātrā ca", "in you rests all our good and our path." The verse teaches that God knows every torment of the devotee before it is spoken, and that all of life -- and the very road ahead -- rests on Him; to the surrendered soul remains only to open the heart to Him, for the "lover of devotees" already knows and already loves.
