ततो भोजो नरव्याघ्रं दुःसहः कुरुसत्तम ॥
अविध्यत् तूर्णम् अव्यग्रो दशभिः कङ्कपत्रिभिः ॥
तम् अर्जुनः शितेनाजौ राजन् विव्याध पत्रिणा ॥
पुनश् चान्यैस् त्रिभिर् बाणैर् मोहयन्न् इव सात्वतम् ॥

अनुवाद
Then the Bhoja, irresistible, O best of the Kurus, pierced the tiger among men swiftly and undisturbed with ten heron-feathered arrows. Him Arjuna, O king, pierced in battle with a sharp feathered arrow, and again with three other arrows, as though stunning the Satvata.

Kritavarman is called "avyagraḥ," undisturbed, and "duḥsahaḥ," irresistible: he too is valorous. But his valor serves untruth, for he belongs to the side that shelters the guilty. Telling is that the poem grants honor to the adversary too, without diminishing him. The verse teaches truthfulness in depicting an enemy: a worthy opponent remains worthy, however wrong his cause may be. Victory over the brave is worth more, and the depiction of his valor is a mark of impartiality that neither flatters one's own nor blackens the other side.
