The two guardians of the wheel answer Kritavarman in kind, cutting down his banner and bow. The faithful not only shield but also strike back at the one who bars the way. It is telling that their combined action ("daśabhiḥ daśabhiḥ") multiplies their strength. The verse teaches the power of concerted comradeship: two acting as one for a shared purpose overcome a mighty foe; and the unity of the faithful, fighting shoulder to shoulder, is a strength before which even the valor of a lone champion standing for an unjust cause must give way.
