ते ऽपि सर्वप्रयत्नेन द्रोणम् एव समाद्रवन् ॥
बिभित्सन्तो महासेतुं वार्योघाः प्रबला इव ॥
वारयाम् आस तान् द्रोणो जलौघान् अचलो यथा ॥
पाण्डवान् समरे क्रुद्धान् पाञ्चालांश् च सकेकयान् ॥

अनुवाद
They, too, with all their effort, rushed straight at Drona, wishing to breach the great dam, like mighty torrents of water. Drona held them back, as a mountain holds back floods of water — the Pandavas, enraged in battle, and the Panchalas together with the Kekayas.

Drona is called 'mahāsetuḥ,' the great dam, and 'acalaḥ,' the mountain that holds back torrents. He alone stands against the onrush of all. It is telling that his image is an unmoving barrier amid raging waters: firmness against fury. The verse teaches that the steadfastness of one man can withstand the onslaught of many: as a dam holds a river, as a mountain holds torrents, so the firm in spirit withstands violence; and in the chaos of battle the support that holds is not the strength of the crowd but the unbreakable resolve of the one who stands like a mountain.
