ततः शीघ्रास्त्रविदुषोर् द्रोणसात्वतयोस् तदा ॥
नान्तरं शरवृष्टीनां दृश्यते नरसिंहयोः ॥
इषूणां संनिपातेन शब्दो धाराभिघातजः ॥
शुश्रुवे शक्रमुक्तानाम् अशनीनाम् इव स्वनः ॥

अनुवाद
Then, for the two masters of swift weapons, Drona and the Satvata [Satyaki], there was no gap to be seen in the showers of arrows between the two lion-men. From the clash of arrows, a sound born of the striking of torrents was heard, like the rumble of thunderbolts loosed by Shakra.

"Na antaraṃ śaravṛṣṭīnām," "there is no gap in the showers of arrows": the torrents merge into an unbroken wall, and the sound of their clash is "aśanīnām iva," like the thunder of Indra's bolts. It is telling that the equality of the two masters produces not the victory of one, but an unbroken thundering flood. The verse teaches that the meeting of equal perfections yields no advantage: their strengths merge into continuity, like two streams becoming one; and until fate intervenes, equals only multiply the thunder without overcoming each other — for perfection against perfection is balanced.
