तुतोषास्त्रविदां श्रेष्ठस् तथा देवाः सवासवाः ॥
न ताम् आलक्षयाम् आसुर् लघुतां शीघ्रकारिणः ॥
देवाश् च युयुधानस्य गन्धर्वाश् च विशां पते ॥
सिद्धचारणसंघाश् च विदुर् द्रोणस्य कर्म तत् ॥
tutoṣāstravidāṃ śreṣṭhas tathā devāḥ savāsavāḥ ||
na tām ālakṣayām āsur laghutāṃ śīghrakāriṇaḥ ||
devāś ca yuyudhānasya gandharvāś ca viśāṃ pate ||
siddhacāraṇasaṃghāś ca vidur droṇasya karma tat ||
The best of the knowers of weapons [Drona] rejoiced, and likewise the gods with Vasava; they could not perceive the lightness of hand of the swift-acting one [Satyaki]. And the gods knew the deed of Yuyudhana, and the gandharvas, O lord of peoples, and the hosts of siddhas and charanas knew that deed of Drona.

Satyaki's swiftness is such that not even the gods could follow the lightness of his hand. And the gods know the deeds of both. It is telling that human skill has surpassed even the gods' power to trace it. The verse teaches that human mastery, carried by devotion to its utmost limit, exceeds even heavenly perception: the swift hand of a devoted hero escapes the gaze of the gods. Herein lies the greatness of man -- able through labor and faithfulness to achieve what astonishes even the immortals.
