तौ त्र तिक्रान्तौ दृष्ट्वाभीतौ स्विनौ
सिन्धुराजं संप्रेक्ष्य गाण्डीस्येषुगोरे
किं दा कुवः कृत्यं विधुः काचोदिताः
दारुणैकाने काले थं वा प्रतिपेदिरे
ग्रस्तान् हि कौवान् न्ये मृत्युना ता संतान्
विक्रमो हि णे तेषां था दृश्यते ऽद्य वै

अनुवाद

Those two, having passed through there, fearless and swift, and having looked upon the king of Sindhu already within the range of Gandiva's arrows — what then did the Kurus, driven by time, undertake, or how did they conduct themselves in that dreadful, hopeless hour? For I deem the Kauravas already seized, fallen in with death, O dear one, since their valor in battle is not seen the same now.
