ततः कर्णस्य संक्रुद्धो भीमसेनः प्रतापवान् ॥
चिच्छेद कार्मुकं तूर्णं सर्वोपकरणानि च ॥
जघान चतुरश् चाश्वान् सूतं च त्वरितः शरैः ॥
नाराचैर् अर्करश्म्याभैः कर्णं विव्याध चोरसि ॥
ते जग्मुर् धरणीं सर्वे कर्णं निर्भिद्य मारिष ॥
यथा हि जलदं भित्त्वा राजन् सूर्यस्य रश्मयः ॥
स वैकल्यं महत् प्राप्य छिन्नधन्वा शरार्दितः ॥
तथा पुरुषमानी स प्रत्यपायाद् रथान्तरम् ॥

yathā hi jaladaṃ bhittvā rājan sūryasya raśmayaḥ ||
sa vaikalyaṃ mahat prāpya chinnadhanvā śarārditaḥ ||
tathā puruṣamānī sa pratyapāyād rathāntaram ||

नाराचैः अर्करश्म्याभैःnārācaiḥ arkaraśmyābhaiḥwith iron arrows resembling the sun's rays; with iron arrows like rays of the sun
कर्णम् विव्याध च उरसिkarṇam vivyādha ca urasiand pierced Karna in the chest; and struck Karna in the chest

अनुवाद

Then, enraged at Karna, Bhimasena the doughty swiftly cut his bow and all its fittings; and in haste he slew the four horses and the charioteer with arrows; with iron shafts like the rays of the sun he pierced Karna in the chest. All of them passed into the earth, O worthy one, having pierced through Karna, just as, O king, the sun's rays pass through after piercing a cloud. He, overcome by great distress, his bow cut, tormented by arrows, though a man of pride, withdrew to another chariot.
