वृसेनः र्णसुतः ल्यो द्राधिपस् था
द्रोपुत्रश् शैनेयं र्वतः र्यवायन्
तः र्याकुलं र्वं प्राज्ञा किं
था सात्यकिना वीरे विथे सूजे कृते
हाहाकारस् तो राजन् र्वसैन्येषु चावत्
र्णो ऽपि विह्वलो राजन् सात्वतेनार्दितः रैः
दुर्योथं राजन्न् रुरो विनिःश्वसन्

अनुवाद

Then, downcast, O king, your bulls among men — Vrishasena, Karna's son, Shalya, lord of Madra, and the son of Drona [Ashvatthaman] — surrounded Shainya on all sides. Then everything grew confused, nothing at all could be discerned. So, when Satyaki made the hero, the son of the suta, chariotless, a cry of "alas!" arose, O king, among all the armies. And Karna, bewildered, O king, tormented with arrows by the Satvata, mounted the chariot of Duryodhana, breathing heavily.
