यद्य् असौ ब्राह्मणो न स्याद् विन्देत द्रौपदीं न सः ॥
न हि तं तत्त्वतो राजन् वेद कश् चिद् धनंजयम् ॥
दैवं तु परमं मन्ये पौरुषं तु निरर्थकम् ॥
धिग् अस्मत्पौरुषं तात यद् धरन्तीह पाण्डवाः ॥

译文
Duhshasana said: "Had he not been a brahmin, he would not have won Draupadi; for truly no one recognized Dhananjaya in him. I deem fate all-powerful, and manly effort futile; shame on our manhood, brother, that the Pandavas carry off the victory here."

Here even the envious one involuntarily acknowledges the all-power of fate. It is telling that Duhshasana, humiliated, declares: "fate is all-powerful, effort is futile" — grief instructs even the wicked about the power of Providence. Here it is revealed that human schemes are powerless against the will from above: what the Lord has ordained cannot be turned aside by cunning. Thus scripture reveals the futility of resisting Providence; and even the enemies bear witness to it.
