Here the righteous man rejoices purely in the good fortune of the righteous. It is telling that Vidura exults over the Pandavas' deliverance, seeing in it the prosperity of the whole Kuru line: the selfless rejoice in another's happiness as in their own. Here is the purity of a soul free from envy: the good of one's neighbor is, for it, a joy of its own. Thus scripture reveals Vidura's luminous heart; and his news is of a different nature than the news brought by the envious.
