मृत्युर् विधीयतां छन्नैः स हि तेषां बलाधिकः ॥
तस्मिंस् तु निहते राजन् हतोत्साहा हतौजसः ॥
यतिष्यन्ते न राज्याय स हि तेषां व्यपाश्रयः ॥

Here malice descends to secret fratricide. It is telling that Duryodhana coldly plots to kill Bhima by stealth: the secret murder of a kinsman is the deepest abyss of adharma. Here is the lesson: envy unrestrained ends in the shedding of one's own blood-kin. Thus the text reveals the utmost baseness of the design; and one who plots against a brother's life brings ruin upon himself.
