तव सैन्येषु योधानां पार्थभूतम् इवाभवत् ॥
अन्योन्यम् अपि चाजघ्नुर् आत्मानम् अपि चापरे ॥
पार्थभूतम् अमन्यन्त जगत् कालेन मोहिताः ॥

"Here is Partha, whence Partha, this is Partha!" -- so, O lord, among the warriors in your armies everything became as if entirely Partha. And they struck one another, and some even struck themselves, taking the whole world to have become Partha, deluded by Time.

The terror reaches madness: the enemy sees pārtha everywhere, and they strike one another and even themselves -- anyonyam ajaghnuḥ ātmānam api ca. Kālena mohitāḥ, "deluded by Time", means fate has stolen their reason. It is telling that one righteous man, sheltered by the Lord, seems to multiply, filling the enemy's fear entirely. The verse teaches that fear before righteous retribution can drive men mad: blinded by fate, the wicked destroy one another, having mistaken the world for a single avenger; and this delusion is no trick of weapons but a darkening sent by Time upon those who have fallen from dharma.
