The roars, shouts, and clamors, the sounds of conches and drums, ceased, O great king; no one spoke. The ranks fell silent, the warriors ceased from battle; the people, filled with wonder, watched the duel of the two.

The battle falls still before the greatness of the duel: "upāraman… na kaḥ cana vyājahāra," everything grew silent, no one speaks. The very carnage halts to watch. It is telling that valor can impose silence amid tumult. The verse teaches that true greatness compels a reverent hush: before the meeting of two perfections even the thunder of war falls silent; and the beauty of supreme valor so captivates that enemies forget their enmity, becoming a single spellbound assembly of onlookers.
