अक्षतौ संयुगे तत्र प्रविष्टौ कृष्णपाण्डवौ ॥
न च वारयिता कश् चित् तयोर् अस्तीह संजय ॥
भृताश् च बहवो योधाः परीक्ष्यैव महारथाः ॥
वेतनेन यथायोग्यं प्रियवादेन चापरे ॥
अकारणभृतस् तात मम सैन्ये न विद्यते ॥
कर्मणा ह्य् अनुरूपेण लभ्यते भक्तवेतनम् ॥

译文

Krishna and the Pandava, having entered the battle there unharmed — and there is no one here to restrain those two, Sanjaya. And many warriors, great warriors, have been hired after thorough testing — with wages, as is fitting, while others with kind words. There is no one in my army hired without cause, O dear one, for deserved pay is earned according to commensurate service.
