ऋषिपुत्रो ममाचार्यो द्रोणस्य दयितः सखा ॥
एष शेते रथोपस्थे मद्बाणैर् अभिपीडितः ॥
अकामयानेन मया विशिखैर् अर्दितो भृशम् ॥
अवासीदद् रथोपस्थे प्राणान् पीडयतीव मे ॥
शरार्दितेन हि मया प्रेक्षणीयो महाद्युतिः ॥
प्रत्यस्तो बहुभिर् बाणैर् दशधर्मगतेन वै ॥
शोचयत्य् एष निपतन् भूयः पुत्रवधाद् धि माम् ॥
कृपणं स्वरथे सन्नं पश्य कृष्ण यथा गतम् ॥

译文

"The seer's son, my teacher, Drona's beloved friend — he lies on the floor of his chariot, oppressed by my arrows. By me, who did not wish it, greatly tormented by arrows, he sank onto the chariot floor — as if it presses upon my own life breath. For by me, myself tormented by arrows, he has been struck down by many arrows — one worthy of gaze, greatly radiant, abiding in tenfold dharma [Kripa]. His fall grieves me more than the death of a son; behold, Krishna, to what he has come, pitiable, sunk upon his own chariot."
