Ghatotkacha cuts the bow from Karna's hand — but Karna calmly takes up another: a master is not shaken by the loss of his weapon. It is telling that not even the fearsome roar that terrifies kings unsettles Karna. The verse teaches that one who loses his instrument does not lose the fight: calmly taking up a new bow is itself the mark of true self-mastery; and one whom neither a roar nor the loss of a weapon can break conquers, first of all, his own agitation.
