रत्नभाजो हि राजानो जरासंधम् उपासते ॥
न च तुष्यति तेनापि बाल्याद् अनयम् आस्थितः ॥
मूर्धाभिषिक्तं नृपतिं प्रधानपुरुषं बलात् ॥
आदत्ते न च नो दृष्टो ऽभागः पुरुषतः क्व चित् ॥

ratnabhājo hi rājāno jarāsaṃdham upāsate ||
na ca tuṣyati tenāpi bālyād anayam āsthitaḥ ||
mūrdhābhiṣiktaṃ nṛpatiṃ pradhānapuruṣaṃ balāt ||
ādatte na ca no dṛṣṭo 'bhāgaḥ puruṣataḥ kva cit ||

Translation

"Kings possessed of treasures serve Jarasandha, but even with that he is not content, abiding in lawlessness through folly; he seizes by force an anointed sovereign, a foremost man, and nowhere have we seen any rescue from his power."
