तस्याभिवर्षतो वारि पाण्डवः प्रत्यवारयत् ॥
शरवर्षेण बीभत्सुर् उत्तमास्त्राणि दर्शयन् ॥
शरैः समन्ततः सर्वं खाण्डवं चापि पाण्डवः ॥
छादयाम् आस तद् वर्षम् अपकृष्य ततो वनात् ॥
न च स्म किं चिच् छक्नोति भूतं निश्चरितुं ततः ॥
संछाद्यमाने खगमैर् अस्यता सव्यसाचिना ॥

Vaishampayana said: "The Pandava repelled that one [Indra], pouring down water, with a shower of arrows -- Vibhatsu, displaying superior weapons; with arrows the Pandava covered the whole of Khandava from all sides, and turned that rain away from the forest; and not a single creature could escape from there, as the sky was covered with flying arrows hurled by Savyasachin."
