Traducción
Seeing the gods repelled by Madhava and Arjuna, the sages dwelling in heaven were struck with wonder; and Shakra, having repeatedly witnessed the valor of those two in battle, became greatly pleased and once more fought with them.

Here Indra's wrath gives way to fatherly joy. Telling is it that, having grasped the valor of his son Arjuna, Indra becomes "greatly pleased": a father rejoices in his son's might even when it is turned against him. Here is shown that true greatness calls forth not envy but admiration even from an adversary. Thus the text reveals the change in Indra; and his battle becomes a trial of love.
