शशाप तं च संक्रुद्धो बीभत्सुर् जिह्मगामिनम् ॥
पावको वासुदेवश् च अप्रतिष्ठो भवेद् इति ॥

Here the one saved by deceit is punished with the loss of refuge. It is significant that the curse is 'may you be without shelter': one who evades dishonorably is doomed to homelessness. In this a law is seen: deliverance by cunning brings a wandering fate. Thus the scripture reveals the curse upon Ashvasena; and it will echo in his coming enmity with Arjuna.
